ok guys so i have a 91tt and ive only had it for about a month now. for starters i had a mishap with my cyclinder 3 coil starting on fire because my subharness that runs to the ptu had a broken wire that was grounding to the motor.(had been bouncing off the pulley) this wire was the signal wire for that coil i believe. (the wire that was opposite side of the ground that is going to the coil.) i repaired that and now it seems to only malfunction and not fire when i drive my z for about an hour or 2. when its not hitting i checked the clip and the signal wire was not reading any volts. my current ideas are that maybe the ptu is shorted out from that wire grounding, that wire is broken somewhere else in the harness, or maybe a loose wire in the ecu. im leaning toward the ptu. any suggestions? also id like to add that the previous owner put a side post battery in and the positive side grounded to the chassis. totally melted the cable ends right off the battery. obviously this could have something to do with it but why only 1 cyclinder. any ideas anyone?
